USFS

The purpose of this session is to continue the day’s theme of engaging a broader, more diverse audience through Forest Service supported youth programs. This session will highlight the many ways by which youth can draw connections to nature through art. Through this session participants will be inspired and empowered to engage a broader audience of youth using art as the platform for engagement. Special focus will be placed on photography and video activities, as this is where engagement efforts have been especially successful.

  • Not all youth will connect with nature through science or outdoor recreation-based engagement.  Youth can establish connections with the natural world by using photo, video, and social sharing.
  • Ideas and resources that attendees can incorporate into current or future youth engagement activities, events, or projects that encourage youth to establish connections with the natural world.
