Gary Kuhl is a cofounder of the Oregon Flute Circle in Eugene, Oregon. Gary plays Native American flutes and makes them himself in his workshop. | | Gary uses many different kinds of wood, such as maple and walnut, to create his flutes. Each kind produces a different and unique sound. | | | Most of the work is done by machine, such as drilling holes, but little tweaks to change the pitch of the flute are done by hand. | | Gary has years of experience making flutes, but it can be a laborious process to make sure each hole on the flute is tuned to the correct note. | | | Once the mouthpiece of the flute is formed, it is glued onto the flute. Then the flute is ready to be played. | | |
